Your name. Your call.

Going back to the name you had before, or starting fresh with a brand new one? Whatever's next, I'll sort the admin, so that's one less thing on your plate.

£45, one-off. Your deed poll's included.

  • No need to wait for your divorce
  • Your ex doesn't need to know

It's okay if this is hard.

Even when it's the right call, a relationship ending is a lot. There was a time you saw that person a certain way, and it hurts when that changes. And the conversations? Horrible, and sometimes lonely.

Maybe you're heartbroken. Maybe the prosecco's already open. Maybe it's both, depending on the hour. All of it's allowed here.

I've been there. My marriage was annulled, and I went back to Akinyosoye, the name that feels the most like mine. So let me take the boring bit off you. And if you just need someone to rant to, email me or DM me. I mean it.

Anna x

No permission needed.

It's your name. You're an adult. Do what feels right.

  • Not divorced yet? You don't have to wait. Once you've separated, you can change your name whenever you're ready. No need to wait for your final order.
  • Worried about your ex? They don't need to know. Or agree, or sign anything. The only signatures on your deed poll are yours and your witness's.
  • Not sure which name? Back, or brand new. Most people go back to a name they had before. Some pick something completely new. Both are yours to choose.

It shouldn't be this hard.

Separating means untangling two lives: your home, your money, your stuff, your whole routine. Even when it's amicable, that's a lot. Sometimes the name itself carries memories you'd rather not see on every letter. Then you want your old name back, and you're asked to jump through hoops for every organisation. I don't think that's fair.

So I keep it simple. One deed poll, and I handle most of the rest.

Using your divorce papers

Every organisation wants a different mix of documents to go back to an old name. Usually some of these:

  • Your final order or decree absolute (or decree of nullity, if it was annulled)
  • Your marriage or civil partnership certificate
  • Your birth certificate

The passport office alone wants your birth certificate, your marriage certificate, a signed statement and proof you're using the name. Most people don't have all of it to hand. And it only works for a name you've had before.

Using a deed poll

One single page. It's the standard proof of a name change in the UK, and it does the job on its own.

  • Works for an old name or a brand new one
  • I prepare it and post it to you
  • You sign it with a witness and send me a photo
  • Included in the £45

How it works

You do one form. I do the rest.

  1. 1

    Fill in one form

Your names, your reason, and who needs to know. About five minutes.

  2. 2

    I prepare everything

Your deed poll, your DVLA pack if you need one, and every update.

  3. 3

    I send it all off

Once you've sent me a photo of your signed deed poll. I chase anything that comes back.

Questions about changing your name after divorce

Anything else? Email hello@mynamechanged.com or DM me on Instagram or TikTok.

Can I go back to my maiden name before my divorce is final?

Yes. Once you've separated, you can go back to your old name whenever you're ready. You don't need to wait for your final order or decree absolute. It's done with a deed poll, and that's included.

Does my ex need to agree to my name change?

No. It's your name, and you're an adult. Your ex doesn't need to agree, sign anything or even know.

I've got my divorce papers. Why do I need a deed poll?

Every organisation wants a different mix of your final order, marriage certificate and birth certificate, and the passport office wants extra on top. Most people don't have all of it to hand. A deed poll does the job on its own, so I prepare one for everyone going back to an old name. It's included in the £45.

Can I choose a completely new name instead?

Yes. Go back to a name you had before, or pick something brand new. Same form, same £45, and your deed poll covers either.

What about my passport?

Passports aren't included yet, so it's one you sort yourself with HM Passport Office. You'll usually need your deed poll and one document showing you already use the name, like a utility bill or bank statement from the last 12 months. It costs £102 online (October 2026), paid to HM Passport Office. My passport tips →

My marriage was annulled, or my civil partnership ended. Can you help?

Yes, it works exactly the same. Once you've separated, I can change your name whenever you're ready, with a deed poll included.

Can you change my children's names too?

Not right now, I'm afraid. The service is for adults only, so you need to be 18 or over.

Is it really £45?

Yes. Your deed poll, the copies, your DVLA pack and every update you pick, all for £45. Pick one organisation or all of them, the price is the same.

Who can use it?

Anyone 18 or over in England, Scotland, Wales or Northern Ireland. In Northern Ireland there are two exceptions for now: I can only update DVLA driving licences (not ones issued in Northern Ireland or the Republic of Ireland), and I don't update rates with NI Direct yet.

Ready when you are.

No rush, no deadline. When you want your name sorted, I'm here.
